Location

The Kennebunks offer some of the most beautiful spots for family photoshoots on the Maine coast. Need help finding the perfect place? I love finding the perfect spot for your family photography.

Timing

Evening light or early morning offers the most flattering light for family photos. I try to schedule all sessions an hour before sunset or early in the morning to take advantage of the “golden hour.” If you really need to do another time of day we can do that if we plan on a location that has some nice shade for great lighting!

Preparation

To avoid last minute stress, make sure to pick out all family outfits a few weeks in advance of your vacation photoshoot. If your outfits are new, you might consider having your kids have a chance to try them on before the day, so that they’ll be comfortable during the shoot.

Wardrobe Tips

Coordinate colors

It’s helpful to choose a color palette for your family to wear on your photoshoot. There is no need to perfectly “match” your outfits, but your photos will feel more cohesive with some coordinated color choices.

Solid colors or earth tones work well, but please do you.

These tend to blend well with the environment and coordinate with each other easily. But please wear what reflects your personality! If your family loves bright Lily Pulitzer prints that will look amazing too!

Comfort is key

When you are comfortable the photos will naturally be more relaxed. Do what makes you feel the best.

  • Yes! I love to adventure and explore. Session rates may vary depending on the location, so just let me know what you have in mind and we can go from there.

  • Absolutely. In general, I tend to favor locations that give us lots of variety without having to spend session time traveling from one spot to another, but let me know your vision and I will make it happen!

  • Editing is the most time intensive part of your photoshoot, and so typically my session turnaround is about 3-5 weeks. Photos are delivered via digital download for instant access and easy sharing.

  • Absolutely. While your session fee includes the session only, I also offer custom-designed albums, keepsakes, and professional prints after your session.

  • While I offer albums and prints through my studio, if you purchase the digital files you'll have the freedom to print them elsewhere, if you choose.

  • Once booked all retainers are non refundable, as I am holding the date for you and turning away other clients. However, if you need to reschedule we can do that if I have openings.

  • Either! The important thing is that it’s in a space where everyone can feel comfortable & have fun.

    All session locations are chosen in collaboration with you, to bring your unique vision to life. Indoors or outdoors, we’ll make it happen! I love coming to your home or beach rental and taking photos there before we head out to the beach too!

    • I accept payment via credit card, cash, venmo or check.

    • Full session payment is due to reserve your date.

    • All albums & prints must be paid in full before design begins.

    • Chat with me if you need options for payment plans!

  • Where possible, I encourage all my clients to embrace whatever weather life throws our way. Turning a rainy day into a fun filled adventure & hopping into puddles with the kiddos can create amazing photos & beautiful memories.

    Try to plan some backup outfits for wet weather. That said, if the weather is absolutely terrible, we can either select an alternate location or reschedule on a date that fits you.
